After learning about how amazingly affirmations can benefit you in life, I have started to incorporate them into my daily life. And to my surprise, I can definitely notice a difference in how they are positively affecting me. Our beliefs are the only thing that is holding us back from achieving our goals and life of our dreams. Starting to bring affirmations into your life will change those beliefs.
You babes know that I am all about creating that life of your dreams and making those changes to make that happen. So I really wanted to share with you guys everything I learnt recently about affirmations and how they can positively affect your life. So you can introduce them and start living those amazing changes in your life.
What Are Affirmations?
The dictionary definition of affirm is to state something forcefully or publicly. They are sentences designed to engage the conscious and subconscious mind. They can be a very powerful tool which can help you change your mood, state of mind and help to manifest whatever you are after. Repeating them over and over will help focus your mind on your goals and you will start to believe them, which is the purpose of them.
Why Do They Work?
In our brains, we have a little feature that helps us filter all the information we receive. We need this filter as if we were to actually see all of the information that is given to us every day, our minds would be extremely overwhelmed and may even explode (maybe literally…) So this filter shows us the information in the area our brain is focusing on.
For example, if you were walking down the street with a friend and you were absolutely starving then you would notice everything food related. The guy who you just passed eating chips, the 3 McDonald’s you’ve passed in the last 500m and the ad on the billboard for a new delicious snack, all because you are hungry. Whereas the friend you’re with may be feeling really lonely and wanting a partner in their lives. So all they can see is every single person of the opposite sex that walks past. This is because each of your brains is thinking and believing different things.
So repeating an affirmation multiple times a day will make your brain believe it and start putting that as the focus of your filter. Programming your mind to this works because our mind doesn’t actually know the difference between what’s real and what’s not.
They Need to Be You
You need to write your affirmations in a way that is you. Use words you would use in your daily life and write it in a way your sentences would naturally come out. As we are trying to make ourselves believe the affirmations they need to sound like that have come from your mouth. This will make repeating the affirmations much more natural.
Your Daily Life
